Type of intervention: Furniture renovation
Dimensions: 40m2
Duration: 2 months
At Efebé, we transformed the 5th grade classroom at Joan Roca School in Barcelona, equipping it with sustainable school furniture thanks to the CtoC project.
The renovation included 25 desks and 25 chairs, with blue-painted metal frames and recycled plastic panels: blue for seats and backrests, and white with blue details for the desks. A functional, attractive design aligned with the school’s values: respect for the environment, social commitment, and collaborative learning.
The CtoC project (Cradle to Cradle) promotes circularity in schools, renewing school furniture through sustainable and inclusive processes. With CtoC, the Efebé Group drives circular economy practices, giving new life to chairs, desks, and other items, while creating modern, comfortable, and environmentally responsible learning spaces.
Furniture design – Efebé creates the design tailored to classroom needs.
Collection – Saó Prat collects old furniture and delivers it to Fundació Rubricatus.
Dismantling, stripping, and painting – At Rubricatus, the structures are dismantled, stripped, and painted.
Recycled panel production – Plàstic Preciós La Safor provides recycled plastic panels.
Shaping, assembly, and delivery – Saó Prat shapes the panels, assembles the furniture, and delivers it to the school.

Plàstic Preciós La Safor: provider of recycled plastic panels.
The project involves students through workshops before and after the renovation, helping them understand the importance of reuse and transformation before recycling.
The initiative is designed to be circular in every detail. At Joan Roca School, the desks and chairs were delivered with protective packaging left intentionally for the students to remove on their first day of class. Later, Saó Prat collected these materials for reuse, closing the sustainability loop.
Each desk and chair tell the story of a collective commitment to the planet and sustainable education.
